Morrie the Toupee Salesman

Lots of people visiting my blog the last couple of days, presumably because of the recent digg rumors. Having been through this at least six times, I’m kind of dazed by the whole thing, but I feel like I have to write something.

And out of the valley there is the usual flurry of July announcements, generally followed by everyone going on vacation. I find it hard to muster energy to address any of it. Though since I’m working with the facebook api, I wonder if the months of crashing pages and dealing with bugs is really worth the upgrade.

More interestingly, I note that a joke I made a while back at a talk for the Canadian Consulate in Palo Alto has now largely come true - my joke was that my parents brought us to Canada from Ireland in search of a better life, only to watch the better life descend on Ireland after they left, and that the same thing seemed to be happening with Canada compared to the US after I left in 2005 (though I’m safely back now).

Macleans says its largely come true - that Canadians are now wealthier overall than the world’s sickest economy to the south. Not to mention happier, having more sex, working less, taking longer vacations… that’s socialism for you, killing economies since… ah, right, never.
