Since Jason Calacanis was nice enough to stop by and defend himself against me calling him a “pompous ass,” I thought I should mention some things I admire about him (reminder – I’ve never met the person).
- “Mahalo Daily.” It’s actually run under the same corporate umbrella as Mahalo. No need for a spin-off with a different ownership structure.
- Brian Alvey. The programmer who built the weblogs, inc. CMS was actually made CTO. Refreshing. In a similar vein, Evan Williams actually made the programmer who built twitter.com the CEO of the resulting company.
- Transparency. He blogs, twitters, defends himself from criticism on other people’s blogs. And I don’t get the feeling there’s a PR person behind him pulling the strings.

Was just speaking with my PR team and they said I should respond to this email and let you know that I appreciate the post.
However, at the end of the day I’m just trying to help the team any way I can.
