I own my IP, according to the EU

January 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

The EU privacy people (I’m scared to guess how many there actually are, but I’d guess thousands) have decided that my IP address is part of my personal information.

For some reason they inserted a joke in the middle of the article:

” These exceptions have not stopped the emergence of a host of “whois” Internet sites, which allow users to type in an IP address and will then generate a name for the person or company linked to it.”

Ha, ha, emergence. Probably some twenty something has been assigned the internet beat, and his “coolness” and the fact that he’s part of the “internet generation” has obscured the fact that he is clueless (a common occurrence these days). Just fyi, “whois” has been around since 1982.
