I see that one of my alma maters has created a “Center for Entrepreneurship.” Sometimes I wish I had never heard the E word, nor had the pleasure of being taught by Robert Blunden, often referred to as “Sideshow Bob” because of his flamboyant teaching style. He somehow was capable of making even pro-forma calculations seem entertaining, even sexy.
Entrepreneurship centers sure seem popular in Canada, and it sometimes feels like they’re just a sop to youth unemployment. But a friend of mine was involved with Renovation Experts, a local company that achieved a successful exit. No VC required, as far as I can tell.
